Remember that in August, plans were approved for Uganda Prisons to hire more than 10,000 (ten thousand) people in an effort to deal with the nation’s growing prison population, senior authorities stated. Prison authorities reported that there are approximately 6400 officers countrywide protecting close to 40,000 prisoners, placing significant pressure on the staff.

Uganda Prisons Final Shortlist 2023

The recruiting took place in all 147 districts of Uganda, with a total of 1,152 warders and wardresses being hired.

The interview was done at the headquarters of 16 regional jails and two subregions (kotido and hoima). The final selection list is now available.

The Uganda Prisons Service’s final recruiting list is organized by the district of origin, beginning with ABIM and ending with ZOMBO. Those who took part in the interview may now look up their names.

Qualified candidates must be willing to complete a minimum nine-month basic jail officers training course. Only those who successfully finish the training will be offered a position as a warder or wardress.
